Now that the first ever Galway Fashion Week is over, I can get back to work and let you all in on my experience of working backstage in Tosh for part of the event. Galway Fashion Week ran from 13th April- 17th April, and was held in Tosh (Hotel Meyrick), Bold Art Gallery and The Eyre Square Shopping Centre. The event which was run by Midnight Promotions kicked off its first night quite artistically with a young lady and young man in body painted outfits, they looked amazing and did a great job.Working with the beautiful models from Catwalk model agency, I gained a lot of insight into the business and an experience i will hapily remember. The girls were professional and courteous and so easy to work with. Julia, one of Catwalks older models and a very stylish lady, was also working backstage and helped me out a lot, giving me all the tips I'd need to get through the hectic hour of getting the models in and out of the clothing, being carefull not to get any make up on them, and keep them in order. Tina from Sugar Pink Boutique was also there showcasing her stores magnificent pieces, I will be gracing the doors of her shop in the near future! I had the pleasure of also meeting and working with the owner of Catwalk Model Agency, Mandy Maher, stunning and very well presented herself, she is so easy to talk to and work with. A mother of three, you'd never guess it as she is so organised, has the figure of a model herself and the patience and professionalism to top it all off! The designers, Heather Finn, Jennifer Rothwell, AideenBodkin, Claire O' Connor and Aoife O' Leary all had stunning, original and eye catchingdesigns that any fashionista would be proud to be seen in. I especially loved Claire O' Connors 'Lil'C Couture' collection, A fabulous collection with an urban/street vibe, there were a mixture of chains, mesh and an array of different fabrics, colours and large buttons on the designs. The unusual peak caps were an exceptional hit and i predict will be sold out in no time! To view Claire's Lil'C Couture collection, visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs7FZKUUf84 The event and models graced a few front pages in the local and national newspapers as well as being featured on RTEs Exposé.Who knows, maybe this will be an ongoing yearly event that will someday catch up with Milan and Paris!!The press release will follow shortly.
The models featured are all from Catwalk Model Agency. For more info and pics, go to www.galwayfashionweek.com
